Jamie Virden of Ellensberg, Washington competed for Miss Rodeo Washington in 2007, although she didn’t win she did a beautiful job.  I was in Ellensberg for the pageant that year and the state of Washington shells out some high quality rodeo queens!  It was a very tough competition the year Jesse Budd gave up her crown.  Jessica Crouch was the lucky winner that year; she went on to compete this year at Miss Rodeo America and represented her state very well.

It is now January 2009 and Jesse Budd and Jamie Virden both competed for the title of Miss Rodeo USA in Oklahoma City.  Jesse Budd was in the top ten last year at the Miss Rodeo America pageant so she knew the level of competition and rigorous scheduling.  By the looks of the pictures on www.missrodeousa.com, all of the girls had a great time.  You can visit the website and keep up on each girl throughout the week of competition through their own blog.  The winner goes to….Jamie Virden of Ellensberg, Washington!  Congratulations to all contestants, especially my friend Jesse Budd and Jamie.  You girls had the farthest to travel and both did an outstanding job!

Miss Rodeo USA represents the International Professional Rodeo Association, whereas Miss Rodeo America represents the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association. This photo was taken at the Ellensberg, Wa Labor Day PRCA rodeo during the Miss Rodeo Washington pageant. Jamie Virden is in red, third in from the right bottom, Jesse Budd is in orange, third in from the right top.
