Do We Have Cowgirls Or What!

Anyone attending the Miss Rodeo Montana/Miss Teen Rodeo Montana Horsemanship portion of the pageant was entertained by the quality of horseback riding our contestants performed Thursday afternoon.  Emcee, Kate Ruland, provided the play-by-play action while Miss Rodeo Montana 2008 Audrey Sholty and Miss Teen Rodeo Montana Jennifer Marshall displayed sponsor flags and set the patterns for our contestants.  The horses for the competition were brought in by Monica and Steve Gruel of the Gruel Ranch, Tim and Corrie Seaman who own the Meisnner Ranch and Jeff and Sue Thompson of Western Sky Equine.  The committee reviewed five new horses this year and the horses challenged the contestants to the maximum.  Our Judges, Mark McQuirk from Missoula, Alyssa Plackemeier from Texas and Missy Sampson from Helena have their work cut out for them with the quality of Contestants we have this year.  The queen contestants, Elise Anderson, Lesli Furniss and Shantell Frame, set the stage for the competition followed by teen contestants Amy Hager, Lauren Brunsvold, Jesse Eades and Samantha Manley.  Our Ladies of Rodeo made us proud by their expertise and poise exhibiting their individual horsemanship skills.  Our pageant photographer, Jackie Jensen, was on hand to capture the event on film.  The Miss Rodeo Montana, Inc. Executive Board of Directors would like to invite you all to visit her website to view the great quality of photos she took on Thursday.  Thank you to Kate, Laura, Virgil and Andrea who were the hard workers on the Miss Rodeo Montana Board helping out with horsemanship.

Get Acquainted Brunch

The Cattleman’s Cut proved a very nice venue for the 2009 Get Acquainted Brunch once again.  Reigning Queen and Teen Queen, contestants, judges, family, and friends alike were once again greatly entertained by returning emcee Channing Hartelius while enjoying a delicious meal.

Although a great opportunity to socialize, this event also provided another chance for the judges to determine each contestant’s skill at impromptu speaking, as a different question was drawn and answered by each.  These questions addressed current events and allowed each of them to voice their opinion on an important, and sometimes controversial, issue.

Audrey Sholty and Jennifer Marshall shared memories of their reigns and graciously assisted the emcee.

PRCA Mixer sponsored by Great Falls Chamber of Commerce

Community members, rodeo contestants and their families, joined Miss Rodeo Montana contestants and visiting royalty at the annual PRCA Mixer at the Heritage Inn. Every one socialized with one another while enjoying a smorgasbord filled with appetizers.  Our contestants were all dressed in western elegance and looked fabulous.  Each Miss Rodeo Montana and Miss Teen Rodeo Montana Contestant individually introduced themselves at the podium and told the audience something about themselves and their anticipation for the week.

Pajamarama - Cowgirl Style

Thursday evening ended with a bang, as the contestants and visiting royalty finished the day with the Miss Rodeo Montana Pajamarama. The party kicked off with a well needed shoulder massage circle. Games followed beginning with a game called “Noah’s Ark” that had the girls crawling around acting like animals. The rodeo knowledge of all the ladies was tested by rodeo bingo and rodeo scattegories. Good job to all of the visiting royalty who knew so much about rodeo! The final activity of the night involved some craftiness.  Jaye Dee Han photographed each girl and the ladies decorated their own custom frame.  Popular materials for the frame were leather scraps, cowgirl material, and of course, GLITTER!!   The frames will be a memento they can take with them to remember the memories.  Thank you Sarah Capp for working so hard on the fun games that were brought to the pajamarama!
