The National High School Rodeo pageant being held in Farmington, NM has kept the girls busy for several days now.  Before participating in the pageant the contestants must read the NHSRA rule book front to back.  Like any pageant, a contestant needs to be aware of the rules that she and the rest of the rodeo contestants must follow.  At the NHSRA Finals the rules are put into place and if not followed, a contestant is disqualified - no questions asked!  This enables the pageant and the rest of the rodeo to run smoothly and on time - something that is necessary with over 1,200 high school contestants.  Unfortunately, every year it seems girls get disqualified from the contest simply for being late to roll call.

The contestants are required to be at roll call fifteen minutes before each events starts.  It is wise for girls to understand they will be disqualified if just 1 minute late to an event.  Already Ohio and Hawaii have been sadly disqualified from the contest in Farmington.  While this rule may seem a bit harsh, it is a good way to enforce being on time.  As a rodeo queen it is essential to be early to each event you are appearing.  If nothing else…it will cut down on the stress of fearing you are late!
