2009 Miss Rodeo Montana &
Miss Teen Rodeo Montana
GRACEFULLY SPEAKING!
The Miss Rodeo Montana/Miss Teen Rodeo Montana audience sat in the Hampton Inn’s Sacajawea Room and listened to six talented young ladies speak about their state yesterday morning. Accomplished seems to be an insignificant word compared to the poise, confidence and speaking abilities demonstrated on Friday morning!
Before the girls spoke, Chase Studervent had the audience rolling with laughter with his
ventriloquist talent. The fifth grader had us holding our sides while his characters tried to impress the Miss Rodeo Montana and Miss Teen Rodeo Montana contestants. Needless to say, Chase wasn’t your ordinary fifth grader. Thanks for coming Chase!
The Miss Rodeo Montana and Miss Teen Rodeo Montana Speech Competition, a principle event of the Pageant proved to be a worthwhile portion of the pageant. Each contestant gave a 2-minute prepared speech on Montana, followed by tough impromptu questions about current events that had each girl thinking on her feet. In addition to an amazing display of speaking abilities, we were entertained by Miss Rodeo Montana – Audrey Sholty and Miss Teen Rodeo Montana – Jennifer Marshall talking about some of the highlights of their reign. Miss Rodeo Montana Speech Committee Lorell Heckman and her committee outdid themselves with the beautifully decorated stage and table centerpieces.
We dined on bbq beef, potato salad and baked beans (and most of us helped ourselves to seconds!). The Silent Auction was held in conjunction with the Speech Competition and some lucky bidders came away with some remarkable purchases.
National Director, Jody Rempel presented Audrey with a Montana flag that was flown above the capital in November in her honor. Shelly Frame was the recipient of the Mother of a Contestant drawing.
Following the Speech Luncheon, the Miss Rodeo Montana, Inc., General Membership meeting was held. Committees reported on their successes and some constructive criticism was offered. The new Executive Board of Directors voted on Wednesday evening was announced: President Laura Bakker, Vice President/President Elect Megan Hardy, Secretary Robin Nansel, Treasurer Tracy Matz, National Director Jody Rempel, Advisor At-Large Kate Ruland and Teen Advisor Linda Rest.
