The Miss Rodeo America 2009 pageant is fast approaching!  The candidates are putting the finishing touches on their applications and photographs that will be used to determine the next Miss Rodeo America.  The application process is a huge part of making that lasting impression on your judges.  Just like qualifying for a job position rodeo queens must put their experience, references, and other information.  This is the first thing your judges will see.

Before sending in your “packet,” make sure you have someone else read through it.  It is so easy to miss a small typo, friends and relatives will be able to catch those kinds of mistakes.  Type as much of your application as possible!  It looks ten times more professional and is easier to refer to as a judge.  Don’t be modest when listing your credentials.  I always have my mom look over that portion of the application - Mom’s will always remind you of that one time you were President of your 4-H club.  Be thorough and spell out any abbreviations.  Not everyone knows what FCCLA stands for.

Make copies of everything you send in, just in case!  Always, always, always be early when sending in your packet!  Don’t push the deadline, it is far better to be safe than sorry!
