As a rodeo queen you really want everything to go perfect.  You probably spend hours upon hours in preperation to make sure nothing can go wrong.  Here are some helpful hints to get your clothes ready, afterall that is one thing you CAN control:

Try on everything together as you will wear it at the pageant and walk around in it!!!!
I had tried on all of my outfits before MRA of course but I didn’t spend much time in them.  Once I got to MRA I put on my newly dyed and starched jeans and realized I could hardly move in them.  I was so worried about horsemanship because I would have to lift my leg gracefully to get on my horse.  I was praying that we wouldn’t have to mount in front of the judges.  I was so uncomfortable it made each day longer, more tiring, and miserable than they should have been.  Each night I would have blisters where the waist of my jeans were from the harshness of the starch.  Luckily they only had us dismount in the horsemanship and I was able to manage that gracefully.  If I had spent more time in the jeans before MRA I would have known that I should wash the jeans or get them redyed because of they were so uncomfortable.  A lesson learned in starch!

Have your jewelry planned for each outfit.  I put them in zip locked bags on the hanger with my outfit.

Model in your boots before the pageant so you get the feel for them.

Last and not least - do not try anything new at the pageant!  You never know if you will have a reaction to a new kind of makeup, hairspray, etc.  I have seen girls who want to try the makeup their room mate uses because their room mate looks so beautiful and flawless in it only to wake up the next morning with a rash or a swollen face.  If this were to happen at MRA you are pretty much out of luck!
